Mercedes Le Carpentier is a trustee of the Explora Foundation, with a consortium of companies including Exsel Group that are working in cutting-edge cyber security and multi-domain integration solutions. For almost 20 years, Mercedes has been at the forefront of research that affects how soldiers operate in the field, focused on situational awareness, cyber security and physical protection. Mercedes has a diverse background, specialising in psychology and in-depth understanding of cultures. She provides unique lectures to NATO on psychological underpinnings of communication in multi-cultural contexts. Mercedes’ current research within Royal Holloway University of London is into the use of social media, disinformation and fake news within terrorist groups. Her research aims to identify effective means to mitigate their psychological approaches by technological advances such as AI, data provenance, & data security and potentially policy change.
