Jim Kukla is CTO and Founder of RedShred. RedShred brings structure to unstructured documents
so developers and data scientists can easily access the data they need to build the
models and applications of the future. RedShred uses computer vision and natural language
processing to find, read and extract relevant information from complex document sources
and makes it available through integration-friendly APIs. He has raised over $7MM
in early stage funding through a combination of SBIRs and private investment. Prior
to RedShred he worked in a variety of roles across industry and academia including
a six year period at the network security company Sourcefire from its time as a startup
to its IPO. At Sourcefire he managed engineering staff and led software design and
development for both infrastructure and user experience across their line of security
appliances. In other roles he has worked on optical telecom management systems, web
content management systems, GIS systems for earth science data management, and 3D
visualization for scientific research. In academic roles he performed research in
3D visualization and immersive graphics and was a lecturer at the University of Maryland
Baltimore County in both Computer Science and Data Science.
