Gerald J. Kelly, DO, is a member of the senior executive team serving as the Chief Information Officer for Stony Book Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Biomedical Informatics, Diplomate ABFM and Clinical Informatics, ABPM. As CIO, he has successfully deployed virtual care platforms in multiple venues, launched analytics platforms for the Clinically Integrated Network (CIN), and successfully deployed communications platforms across the Stony Brook Medicine health system. Located on Long Island, Stony Brook is the region’s premier tertiary care center and Regional Trauma Center. Prior to assuming his role as CIO, he served as Chief Medical Information Officer for Stony Brook University Hospital.
Dr. Kelly has institutional knowledge both as a technology executive, and as a respected Stony Brook Medicine physician with over 25 years of trusted relationships with patients, staff, clinicians, and leadership. He earned his DO from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Family Medicine Residency at Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Kelly is Board Certified in Family Medicine.
As a transformational leader Dr. Kelly has championed his strategic approach to the challenges of health system expansion, automation, advancement of the CIN, integration of population health models, efficacy of organizational throughput, and merging of financial platforms. He is a thought leader with a vision focused on building technology platforms that elevate the patient experience of care, improve the health of populations, and demonstrate value across the health system.
