Career Readiness Competencies

Module Outline

One of the many terms that you'll likely come across during your working life is "career competency." Career Competencies specify the level of knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform a job in the workplace.  Career readiness is the attainment and demonstration of competencies that broadly prepare college graduates for a successful transition into the workplace.

Learning Objectives

• Identify how to advance competencies through training, development, and experience
• Describe workplace competencies and ways of obtaining them 
• Expand knowledge on ways to articulate your competencies
• Explore ways to gain certain competencies through experiential learning 

Modules Activities

• Identify at least one workshop or event in Handshake to attend with a goal to expand your knowledge of at least one outlined competencies 
• Complete “Are You Career Ready Assessment?” handout
• Compete Career Competencies Action Plan to identify ways to gain at least 2 competencies

Assessments and Quizzes

• Career Competencies Quiz 
• Quick Assessment of your job/experience and competencies gained 
• Create a self-recorded video articulating skills/competencies to employer based on a sample i in the module

• About 20 to 25 minutes
