For taking challenge exams for Asian languages, the first step is to carefully read this site:

Chinese Challenge Exam:

The online, remote-proctored Chinese Challenge Exam is offered for an approximately one-month period during the fall and spring semesters and the winter and summer academic sessions (4 exam sessions per calendar year).

Hindi

The Hindi Challenge Exam consists of four parts: speaking, listening comprehension , reading and writing. If you do not read or write the exam language, you cannot take the Challenge Exam. The level expected in the exam is that of someone graduating from high school. The exam is given on two different days each semester and cannot be taken during the final exam period or at any other time. Speak with your major/minor adviser to assure that you meet the language requirement before graduation.

Kannada

The Kannada Challenge Exam is administered on a case by case basis. It costs $50 to meet Stony Brook's language proficiency requirement (LANG). Appointments are scheduled during the fall and spring academic semesters when registration is confirmed. Please email llrc@stonybrook.edu for instructions.
