Sangyoung Nam wins SCMS Essay Prize!

Sangyoung Nam's essay "On Cinema of Garbage: Tc" won the 2024 Graduate Student Essay Prize for the ExFM (Experimental Film and Media) group at the Society of Cinema and Media Studies. She wrote this essay as her project for Professor Brooke Belisle's 2023 Fall seminar in Media Aesthetics, which took the theme of "elemental media." It represents ideas that she will continue to develop in her dissertation, rethinking relationships of matter and embodiment in experimental film and media art. Sang will receive the award this March at the SCMS conference in Boston, where she is also presenting a paper. Congratulations Sang!
