Update Your Financial Information
You must keep the funding information on your Form I-20 accurate at all times.
If your financial support changes, you must request an updated immigration document. This is especially important if you plan to apply for a new visa.
When You Must Update Your Funding
You must report a funding change if:
- Your financial sponsor changes
- The amount of funding increases or decreases significantly
- You receive new funding, such as a scholarship, assistantship, or fellowship
Examples:
- You receive a graduate assistantship, but your I-20 shows personal or family funding
- Government funding ends, and you are now supported by family funds
- You receive a scholarship that covers part of your expenses
Do not update your funding for:
- On-campus employment
- Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
Estimated Expenses
Estimated expenses are based on average student costs and may vary depending on:
- Your academic program
- Your lifestyle and housing choices
Costs typically increase each year.
