SEVP Portal

The SEVP Portal is an online tool you can use while on Post-Completion OPT or STEM OPT to report certain updates directly to SEVP. This is different from the myUSCIS portal.

You may use the SEVP Portal to report:

  • Changes to your phone number
  • Changes to your mailing or physical address
  • Changes to your employment (Post-Completion OPT only)

Use of the SEVP Portal is optional and does not affect your employment authorization.

Creating Your SEVP Portal Account

You will receive an email from do-not-reply.SEVP@ice.dhs.gov with instructions to create your SEVP Portal account.

  • This email is typically sent when your OPT is approved or when your OPT start date begins
  • Check your spam or junk folder if you do not see the email
  • If you did not receive the email, contact your VIS advisor for assistance

How to Report Updates

You have two options to report eligible updates:

  • SEVP Portal, or
  • accessVIS

If you report through accessVIS, VIS will update your SEVIS record for you.

Do not report the same update in both systems.

When VIS updates your SEVIS record, the updated information will appear in your SEVP Portal the following day.

When to Use accessVIS

You must use accessVIS (not the SEVP Portal) for the following:

  • Requesting a new I-20
  • Reporting STEM OPT employment and Form I-983 material changes
  • Submitting STEM validation reports and evaluations

Reporting Deadlines

You must report changes within 10 calendar days.

If you miss this deadline:

  • The SEVP Portal may not allow you to submit the update
  • You must report the change through accessVIS

SEVP Portal Email

Your SEVP Portal account is linked to your personal (non-Stony Brook) email address listed in SEVIS.

Access Issues
