Over my first year leading this exceptional university, I have witnessed our excellence across every dimension of our mission: education, research, healthcare, and service, and our significant positive impact through that mission on our community, the state of New York, the country, and the world. It is the remarkable people of Stony Brook — our inspiring students, our passionate, brilliant faculty and dedicated staff, our compassionate healthcare teams, our visionary academic leaders, and our steadfast supporters and friends — that are the foundation of our excellence, the fuel behind our momentum, and the inspiration to propel our university to greater heights of achievement. This collective spirit infused our strategic planning process and shaped the ambitious goals reflected in this plan.
About the Strategic Plan
The strategic plan comprises three primary sections:
- Six Compelling Goals that define in broad, aspirational terms what Stony Brook is striving to achieve and the vision that will guide us through the next decade.
- Twelve Actions that represent the major strategic undertakings through which Stony Brook will achieve its six compelling goals.
- Tactics for each strategic undertaking add specificity to how Stony Brook will execute each action.
