Xander Barron
Assistant Coordinator, Residential Tutoring Center

The Residential Tutoring Center (RTC) services—which are provided by the Department of Campus Residences and the Academic Success & Tutoring Center (ASTC)—offer tutoring opportunities to students who have specific questions pertaining to some of the University's most challenging and demanding courses.
Residential Tutoring Center walk-in tutoring will start on September 8 for the Fall 2025 semester. For courses offered, email CampRes_Residential_Tutoring@stonybrook.edu. Additionally, our course schedule can be seen on the calendar below.
The RTC launched in the Fall of 2005, under the direction of the Division of Campus Residences. Today, it is under the direction of the Department of Residential Education. In Spring 2016, a partnership was formed with the ASTC to help ensure consistency in both student tutoring experiences and to engage RTC tutors in the College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) tutor certification process. The main goals of the Residential Tutoring Center are to:
Monday through Thursday, 8 pm to 11 pm
DeVries Lower Level Classrooms on Mondays and Wednesdays
Roth Cafe Room 103 on Tuesdays and Thursdays
