Robert Scheidet
Internship Coordinator

Dr. Robert Scheidet is a full-time faculty member and the Coordinator of Internships
for the Educational Leadership Program. He is responsible for coordinating, approving,
supervising, and certifying the successful completion of all internships for candidates
enrolled in the Educational Leadership Program. Besides having taught a number of
courses in the program, he presently teaches a section of Educational Leadership Internship
each semester. He is entering his twenty-fifth year teaching in the program.
Dr. Scheidet earned a Bachelor of Science in Earth and Space Science from Stony Brook University. He holds a Master of Arts in Science Education from Queens College and a Master's in Educational Administration from Hofstra University. His doctorate was in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He retired from the New York State education system in 2003, where he spent thirty-three years as a classroom teacher and administrator. His public-school career progressed from being a science teacher, Video Instructional Coordinator, and Science Chairperson, to a Director of Math, Science, Technology and Computer Science.
Robert learned curriculum alignment practices and the development of alternative assessment strategies as one of fifteen educators chosen to be a New York State Assessment Liaison. This role had him involved with assisting teachers and school districts to understand, prepare for, and implement all phases of performance assessment. This position followed his NYSED two-year extensive training in curriculum alignment, rubric design, development of alternative assessments, and authentic tasks for the Long Island Performance Assessment Project.
Robert was a doctoral advisor for seventeen years for the Educational Leadership Program at Nova Southeastern University, where he was responsible for ensuring that students maneuvered successfully through the dissertation process. He was a curriculum director for an environmental camp and has previously owned and operated two successful businesses.
His doctoral study, Improving Student Achievement by Infusing a Web-Based Curriculum into Global History, was published in the Fall 2003 issue of the Journal of Research on Technology in Education. He co-authored Journaling Through the Coronavirus Pandemic in Educational Leadership Internships, which was published in the New York Academy of Public Education Research Journal in 2021, and has published two books with Pearson Publishing, Educational Leadership Internship Workbook, 1st and 2nd editions.
Notable Honors
Dr. Scheidet was named to Who's Who in American Education in 1989, 1992, and 1996. He received the Friend of Education award from Phi Delta Kappa in 2013. He was also selected to be an Executive Board Member for the Collegial Association for Developing Educational Administrators (CADEA) in 2009 and served as President Elect for the 2012–2013 year.
