Margaret Anne Schedel is Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Journalism at Stony Brook University. An internationally recognized composer and sound artist, she explores the intersection of sound, data, and emerging technology, and is co-founder of Lyrai, an AI startup creating digital acoustic twins of architectural spaces.

Her leadership roles at Stony Brook have included Chair of the Department of Art, President of the College of Arts and Sciences Senate, and Chief Innovation Advisor to the University Libraries. An American Council on Education Fellow and a pioneer of online learning, she is committed to preparing the next generation of journalists to report with rigor, creativity, and integrity in a rapidly changing media landscape.
