Karin Wilkins, PhD

Dean, School of Communication and Journalism

Karin Gwinn Wilkins (PhD, University of Pennsylvania) is Dean of the School of
Communication and Journalism at Stony Brook University. She previously served as Dean of the School of Communication at the University of Miami and Board Chair of the Alliance of Schools and Colleges of Communication and Journalism (ASCCJ).

At the University of Texas at Austin, she led the Moody College of Communication as Associate Dean, directed the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, and received the Cale McDowell Award for Innovation in Undergraduate Studies. An International Communication Association (ICA) Fellow and former Editor-in-Chief of Communication Theory, Wilkins is a widely recognized scholar whose books and peer-reviewed articles have earned multiple awards for her research, service, and teaching.
