Applying to the Pre-College Summer Program
Thank you for considering Stony Brook's Pre-College Summer program.
We look forward to learning more about you and your academic and career interests.
Before you apply, please make sure you understand the eligibility requirements, format, course schedules, and the program and application fees.
ELIGIBILITY
To be accepted into this program, you must be a rising junior or senior who is in good academic standing. This program is open only to US residents who are between the ages of 15 and 17.
HOW TO APPLY
- Obtain your academic transcript or grade report.
- Ask for the contact information (name, position, phone number, and email address) of one reference we may contact in case we need more information. This reference may be a school counselor, teacher, supervisor, or coach. (Required only for students whose GPA is below 3.0)
- Prepare a 500-word essay on the following topic*:

What do you want out of your future college experience and how will participating in a Pre-College Summer Program help you prepare for this experience? In your response, please include the course(s) you have selected and how that influenced your decision to apply to Stony Brook University's Pre-College Summer Program. - *Computational Linguistics applicants will receive a different essay prompt in the application.
- Essay Question
- Log into our Application Portal and click "Create an Account" Make sure you are using an email that you check frequently.
- Select "Start a New Application."
- Choose 2026 Academic Year and Pre-College Summer where prompted.
- Complete the application fields and upload the transcript and essays where prompted.
