Vincent Lawrence Festa

Voice Instructor

Vincent Lawrence Festa is an Italian-American tenor and voice teacher based in New York City. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at Stony Brook University, where he serves as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Voice and Opera, teaching undergraduate applied voice lessons.

Festa earned his Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School and his Master of Music from the Graduate Vocal Arts Program at the Bard College Conservatory of Music, led by Dawn Upshaw, where he studied with Lorraine Nubar. He went on to further his graduate studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under Carol Vaness and Timothy Noble.

Active in opera, oratorio, recital, and chamber music, Festa performs repertoire ranging from Baroque to bel canto opera and from German Lieder to French mélodie, with a particular love for early twentieth-century English art song. On the operatic stage and in recital alike, he brings warmth and close attention to language, musical style, and the relationship between text and expression.

Alongside his performing career, Festa has taught voice for more than ten years in private and academic settings. His teaching encompasses vocal technique, breath coordination, diction, repertoire, and interpretation, with an approach tailored to the individual needs of each student. He is committed to helping singers develop greater vocal freedom, confidence, and independence as musicians and performers. Outside of music, he enjoys traveling, exploring the visual and decorative arts, and discovering the history and culture of cities around the world.
