“As the Dean of the Graduate School and Vice Provost for Graduate Education, I am proud to share our 2025-2026 Graduate School Annual Report. The digital report outlines how the Graduate School, in collaboration with the Center for Inclusive Education, is dedicated to providing holistic support for graduate students through professional and personal development, including but not limited to academic, career, mental health, wellness, and financial support. I am grateful for the hard work of my team and their innovative approach to providing ongoing resources, workshops, and events for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
Reflecting on this past year, I am proud of the ongoing and new initiatives we have implemented as part of our 2025-2026 Strategic Plan. Important highlights include creating a sense of community and belonging through a new GradConnect Series; hosting the largest 3MT and Postdoc Spotlight Competition; traveling to DC to support the 2025 3MT winner, Sai Abasolo, participate in a national showcase; facilitating Research Mentor Training for faculty, graduate students, and postdocs with a new requirement for incoming faculty; increasing resources and recognition for students applying to fellowships; building out emergency financial support programs for students in need; improving processes for programs connected to curriculum review, admissions, registration, graduation, and more.
Each member of my team is focused on fulfilling the mission of the Graduate School and working to make Stony Brook University a transformative place for an individual to pursue graduate education. We hope you enjoy learning more about the work we did in the 2025-2026 academic year and we look forward to continuing to collaborate with our programs to guide graduate students and postdocs to success.
