Ruoyan Fan,'29PhD

Ruoyan, a PhD student in Electrical Engineering, was selected for a Top 5 Best Paper Award in the prestigious 2025 CIGRE Next Generation Network (NGN) Paper Competition, recognizing promising young researchers in power engineering worldwide. Her research, supported by fellow PhD students Zimin Jiang, Khezr Sanjani, and Kamini Shahare, earned her the opportunity to represent Stony Brook University at the Grid of the Future Conference in Denver.

This recognition builds on a strong tradition of student achievement, with Stony Brook PhD students earning multiple CIGRE NGN awards in recent years, including a Top 1 Award in 2024. These accomplishments highlight the strength of our students, mentorship, and research in power engineering.
