Research Summary:

I am an ecologist, biogeographer, and plant ecophysiologist studying the evolution and ecology of biodiversity. My group integrates ecophysiology, field ecology, and remote sensing to understand how ecosystems respond to environmental change—especially in the Turkana Basin, across East Africa, and in other ecosystems globally.

We combine evolutionary biology, experimentation, and geospatial modeling to forecast and conserve ecosystems. Much of our work focuses on human-driven change, including impacts on plant–herbivore interactions, fire regimes, drought responses, and trait–environment relationships across communities and biomes.

Our remote sensing expertise includes hyperspectral imaging, thermal data, drone-based photogrammetry, and LiDAR. Broadly, we aim to support at-risk ecosystems, improve Earth System Models, and train the next generation of scientists.
