Winter Session
During winter session, commuter students are authorized to park without a permit in the following areas:
Resident students will be allowed to park at their winter session housing assigned building with their current Resident Parking Permit.
Apply for a Parking Permit
- Commuter Permit
- Eligible commuter students may apply for a commuter parking permit at anytime. A commuter parking permit allows a permit holder to park in any Commuter Green Zone parking lot.
- Stadium Permit
- Eligible commuter students may also place themselves on the Stadium Lot permit waitlist at anytime. Stadium Lot permits allow permit holders to park in the Stadium Lot Brown Zone parking lot. Stadium Lot parking permits are issued to eligible commuter students on a first come, first served basis utilizing a waitlist process. Please be advised that any student who does not maintain "active" status as a commuter student at any point in time, will automatically be removed from the waitlist.
- Stadium Permit Wait List
- There is a very limited number of stadium permits available. The fourth round of individuals have been contacted via email to buy the remaining permits.
The stadium permit is valid for the 2009-2010 academic year. Upon ordering a stadium permit, a $150.00 fee will be charged to your student account. Once charged, there will be no refunds. You can pick-up your stadium permit from Parking Services two business days after placing your order. Click here to apply for a stadium permit
DEADLINE: The last day for the fourth round individuals to buy the stadium permit is September 28, 2009. Offerings of remaining permits, if any, will be given to the next round of individuals on the following day. Individuals will be contacted via email. Please make sure your email address is up-to-date by logging on to the SOLAR System
Important: Waitlist applicants will be notified about space availability via email. Please make sure that you have registered a valid email address in the SOLAR System. It is also suggested that you add parking@stonybrook.edu to your address book to ensure that you receive emails from us.

Renew a Parking Permit
Parking permits are not renewed automatically. You must renew online using the Stony Brook Parking Permit System by clicking the link below.
- Stadium Permit
- Eligible commuter students who hold a current Stadium Parking permit have been notified via email to renew. The renewal process began on August 24, 2009 and ended on August 31, 2009.
- Any remaining permits that have not been renewed after the deadline will be forfeited and offered to the waitlist.
