Application Procedures for Students with B.S. degrees
from Institutions within the USA


The application process is web-based. Apply on-line at https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=sunysb-gs.

As part of the application process you will need to provide:

(1) official transcripts of undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate course work.

(2) official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (Stony Brook’s code for score reporting is 2548,)

(3) three letters of recommendation,

(4) To apply online, you will need to submit a credit card payment for the application fee. If you meet the criteria for a waiver, your fee will be refunded. Although we will consider an application file at any time and we do not have a deadline, it can be to your advantage to apply by February 1 if you wish to begin your studies in the fall. Support is provided through teaching and research assistantships and industrial, university and departmental fellowships. For the 2006-2007 academic year, the stipend is $22,000 a year (plus subsidized health insurance and a full tuition scholarship), with an additional first year supplement depending upon your academic qualifications.

Earlier applications are encouraged, particularly for those wishing to be considered in the campus-wide competition for Graduate Council Fellowships.
